🚨 FMCSA Removes Eight Gorilla Fleet Safety Devices from Registered ELD List

that fail to meet regulatory standards. These actions are part of FMCSA's ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with 49 CFR Part 395, Subpart B, Appendix A, which outlines the technical specifications for ELDs.





On May 12, 2025, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced the removal of eight ELDs provided by Gorilla Fleet Safety, LLC from its list of registered electronic logging devices. The decision was made due to the devices’ failure to meet minimum technical requirements set forth in Title 49 CFR Appendix A to Subpart B of Part 395.

  • AllwaysTrack

  • Command Alkon Trackit

  • ELDX

  • Gorilla Safety Compact ELD

  • HCSS ELD

  • LB Technologies FleetTrack HOS

  • Simplex ELD 2GO

  • Trucker Path ELD Pro


🛑 Actions Required by Motor Carriers

Motor carriers using any of these revoked devices must take action immediately to remain compliant:


  1. Stop Using the Revoked DevicesRevert to paper logs or logging software to track required Hours of Service (HOS) data.

  2. Replace with a Compliant ELDChoose a registered, compliant ELD from the FMCSA’s Registered Devices List before July 11, 2025.

  3. Use Paper Logs Until ThenUntil July 11, 2025, drivers using revoked ELDs should not be cited for:


    • 395.8(a)(1) – No record of duty status

    • 395.22(a) – Failing to use a registered ELD


    Safety officials should instead:


    • Request paper logs

    • Review logging software or

    • Use the ELD display as a backup method


⏳ Compliance Deadline: July 11, 2025

After this date:

  • Motor carriers still using any of the revoked Gorilla Fleet Safety ELDs will be considered non-compliant.

  • Drivers may be cited under 395.8(a)(1).

  • Out-of-Service (OOS) orders will be issued in line with CVSA criteria.


🔁 Possibility of Reinstatement

FMCSA notes that if Gorilla Fleet Safety corrects the identified issues, their devices may be reinstated. However, motor carriers are strongly encouraged to transition to compliant devices now to avoid future disruptions.
